Gemini 3.5 Flash is Google's fast, inexpensive multimodal tier, and speed is its headline: output runs roughly four times faster than comparable flagships. It keeps the full native multimodality of the Gemini line — image, audio, and video — and pairs a 1M-token context with a low price point.
The caveat is measurement. The benchmark figures here are vendor-reported rather than independently verified, and Flash is tuned for throughput over the deepest reasoning; capability can also shift across Google's frequent Flash refreshes. We flag the vendor sourcing rather than treat those numbers as settled.
For latency-sensitive, high-volume, or multimodal work where speed and cost matter more than topping a reasoning benchmark, Flash is a strong fit. For hard reasoning at the frontier the independently ranked models have the clearer claim, and weights remain closed.
